I shot a snake today

Revisiting some coins that need another look. The top and bottom are a little out of focus but I like the color toning effect. Just shot with the light coming in a door way. Puts the focus on the head. Enjoy.

My superior software program can reconstruct your face from the reflections on the scales.
But the coin is soooo prettty I wouldn't want to do that...:applause_

Other variations... both of these were shot outside in daylight in my own shadow.

Wow, really amazing pictures - and equally amazing coin.

Do you think that the quality of the perth mint coins are much superior to other national mints (i.e. Canadian Royal Mint, US Mint)?

I thought I was going to have to report you to PETS (People for the Ethical Treatment of Snakes).

I like the lighting but you need some more depth of field. I looked for the exif data but its gone so I can't tell the particulars of the shots. I'm guessing that you shot these with the Canon because you don't have a macro lens for your new Nikon? My 100 mm macro allows me to back up 1-1/2 to 2 feet and shoot at f14+ giving me a huge advantage in depth of field.

some nice new shots on your flickr page.

Yeah, I am going to buy other lenses for the Nikon before a macro... prolly a 50mm F1.8 prime next... These were shot on the Canon.

Whatever light you shoot it in, my opinion is that it's a beautiful coin. I hope that the coin feels (no kinkiness) as nice as it appears in the photograph.

Is that coin real?

It kind of looks like one of those Chinese fakes.

Post a pic of yours. Let's compare.

I bought this from Apmex in '06. I am sure they will buy it back.

Well?? Does the coin have a nice feel to it? Went to your stream, I like the way the coin looks when photographed straight on. Middle picture I believe.

I weighed and measured it the day it arrived. It is real.
